My future

Tomorrow Tomorrow I love ya Tomorrow you're... always a day away? I'll be honest, not really sure how that one ends. But the fact of the matter is, tomorrow's a new day full of new potential and possibilities and yeah! Tomorrow i leave for Thailand, I'll be meeting up with some friends from on an island and spending the following 10 days or so relaxing in the sun on a beach not thinking about anything other than when i need to eat something and should i re-apply sunblock... damn, that reminds me, i need to pack sunblock, wasn't something i had planned on taking to Korea.

I'm ready to go! Ready to travel, to see the world, to experience things and life and learn and be scared and laugh and love and so many other emotions. I'm ready to grow and i know it's coming. I've felt stagnant for too long now, just idly sitting here watching as life drifted by, go to school, go to work, back to school, back to work, talk with friends, talks with family, go to school, go to work... that's been my life for years now and i'm ready for something else. That's not to say by any means that i didn't/dont love my friends or my family, just that i'm ready for something new. They'll still be my friends and my family and i'll still rely on them heavily for support in every possible form. You are by all means the only way i've gotten through all these years. I just want something new in the way of life. I want... (fighting the urge to quote Yoko Ono) LIFE and see the world and the world outside of an american world where everything works and made to work and be perfect and fit in its perfect little corner that was made just for that purpose. All that to be said, i just want something new for right now. Not new in the sense of fresh off the line, right out of the factory but new to me.
I am excited! I am ready to go! My friend Rachel told me her "new" mantra i like. "It's not right, It's not wrong, It's just different" Alright, gotta go run some errands, i'll  be sure to update again once i get to Thailand

If home is where the heart is, does that mean home is in my chest?
I've smoked for the last dozen years what makes you think I'd choose that over the rest.
I think I much prefer home is where you lay your head
or at least that last thought that drifts through while you're laying in bed.
I think home can be anywhere any place or anyone
So long as you know it when you're there and you have no reason to run.

My Justification

My life is a whirl wind of this much I'm sure
No surprise to me yet that no one can endure
The chaos and havoc I dare call my own
To live on a whim with out having a home
So I challenge myself to see what the world has to give
There's a solitude to this life that I'm choosing to live
Despite constantly being surrounded by ever changing faces
And day in and day out waking in always new places
I guess the allure is for me to never die alone
So no matter what continent I'm on I'll have friends of my own.

My life... as of now

So as many of you might now I am getting ready to head out. I feel very blessed, I am 27 and have been to all 50 states, I've lived in Cameroon Africa, Brussels Belgium, Washington state, North Carolina, California, Louisiana, Arizona and soon Yeosu, S. Korea. I'm going to be living in a little coastal city called Yeosu, out on a peninsula surrounded by mountains. Honestly I couldn't imagine a better place to be. I've research a good bit and from what I've found i think they'll be lots of hiking and fishing and awesome sights to see.
Yeosu is the headquarters of the 2012 World Expo and that should be pretty exciting. The focus of this years Expo is Oceanic Conservation and Environmental Sustainability, could that be any better for me? I mean, I just graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in Appropriate Technology (hippy science, renewable energy and sustainable building) and now I'll be getting to go see some cool stuff along the same lines. Not to mention Seoul is having an Expo right now on Alternative Transportation that is suppose to be pretty awesome.
In other news, I will be going to Korea alone, for those of you who follow or might have book marked this but are not 100% in the loop. Shalee will be staying in Boone to focus on herself, her education and her baking. She wants to bring her GPA up so that she has a better chance going to a better Grad school and at the same time wants to get a second degree in "Baking" (no relation to Boone). She wants to eventually open a bakery so I cant really fault her for not coming to Korea, traveling is my dream, not hers. So on that note, i wish her the best and if you're following her blog ( http://shay3am.blogspot.com/ ) keep following it so that you can keep up to date on her adventure.
To switch gears, all of my roommates over the last two years are living and teaching abroad. Laura (year 1) is with her BF teaching in Thailand, Lindsey (year 1) and Courtney (year 2) are teaching in Roatan, Honduras and Rachel (year 1 & 2) and her husband Nathan (year 2) are living in Suncheon, S. Korea. I wonder if that was just coincidental that god had all of us live together and then eventually take up the same line of work, for how ever brief this might be. Rachel and Nathan as is turn out are going to be about a half hour away from me and for that matter i have a couple other friends from high school that will be a few hours away. The more i travel the smaller the world gets. I feel like that's a quote from some one, somewhere... I think I will out from who.
Alright on that note, I am going to call it quits for the night. My wine and coke is empty which means it's time for bed. I will keep everyone posted on further adventures and what happens next. Thailand, Honduras, Somewhere warmer, saltier, sandier (probably not more sand than AZ though). As a good friend of mine once tough me,
-Peace, Love and Applesauce...

My... dont have a name for it yet

I'm a broken hearted mess though I'll fight with the best
I know English French and Korean
Wont regret a day till I die, dont do drugs, dont get high
Cause there's way to much life to be livin
Love God and my family and too many women
Love my life cause you know it's the only one that I'm given
Choose a life of adventure of heart ache and pain
But it sure beats a life that would end up mundane
So no suburbs for me, no cubicle desk
This one's for the road, time to go see the rest

My Ever Faithful Defiance

There once was a girl that I fought to love
Nothing in the stars, it wasn't written above
Without asking permission, ignoring the Gods
Through Heaven and Hell I fought all the odds
While it ripped at my heart, my soul and my being
I knew to my core that there was higher meaning
My conscience consumed by her down to every last thought
My soul seemed to be crushing, still I fought and I fought
Taking in every moment the good and the bad
Learning from every experience before, everything that I've had
Sifting through every memory so as not to make the same mistake
But when it came down to it Love is all it would take
When the dust finally settled and she dared let me in
Broken and battered I stood there ready to begin
Cause despite all the heart ache and pain you'll endure
When you find that one that you're made for it's worth it and more...
